Other than some garbage at the end of the raster line, looks like I've got the "print out layers" portion of the task completed.

Now to move on to teardown, and development of the powder handling mechanical motion.

Teardown was quite successful.

The main core of the printing unit forms an 'arch', and I should be able to have this arch surround the powder handling subsystem.

There are two steppers that are separately controlled by the printer - the platen roller (paper advance) and a cheque validation roller.

Both of these are controllable via escape codes. The paper advance will be used for advancing the powder tray under the printhead (as expected), and the cheque validation stepper will be used for the return sweep and powder change.

Should be fun designing this...
