Re: Generic powder machine controller

Hi david, the 3DS printer accepts only vrml and ply files, but only because their slicer is quite old software (but very fast anyway). There is no significant difference between the 3D formats. You can generally convert them back and forth without loosing any information. So you can choose whatever ...

Re: Generic powder machine controller

Hi wonko. thank you for the link to your slicer. I already had a brief look at it in the past, I had dismissed it too quickly because I thought that, by voxelising, it was able only to handle face/vertex colors and not textures.

I'll look again how you approach this issue, thanks

Re: Generic powder machine controller

Colour slicing is a bit complicated, simply because there are not many public available examples. The initial test of my printer will be based on single colour or manually set colour. Later development, in my option, will tweak a VRML reader and add a slicing function, for example, using the VTK pa...

Re: Generic powder machine controller

Hi david, this sounds really great! let's see how the epson head performs, you'll probably need to make some experiments to find the right glue density to prevent clogs. One question about the slicing: how do you do it ? Last few months I've spent some time analysing possible implementations of a sl...

Re: Hacking cartridge HP 84/85

by the way, I think that a driver for this head would be very easy to adapt also to HP11 heads (C4810A, the ones used by 3DSystems Projet660 - definitely suited for 3DPP). Same number of pins and from the photos they look *exactly* the same, both outside and inside

Re: Hacking cartridge HP 84/85

I'm wondering if the teensy 4.0, being so much faster, still makes DMA a requirement for faster printing with the HP45.
Maybe the current firmware just becomes fast enough ?

Re: Firmware for 3DP printing with 2 powder station.

We need two powder station because a part of the team is studying the possibility of using two different powder to make a object, spreading out one layer of each powder at time, opening possibilities to make objects with differents compositions. yes, but you will still have an entire layer of the s...

Re: Firmware for 3DP printing with 2 powder station.

Unfortunately I'm not aware of piezo heads, other than the XAAR 128, that can be controlled by open source controllers. I did some search on the Ricoh gh2220, there are a few companies selling controllers for it, but you won't get any direct control over the nozzles. Why do you need two powder stati...

Re: PowderMaker1 3DP printer

thank you for sharing the updates.
May I ask you where did you get the technical info about the epson printhead ? or are you reverse engineering it ?
