Re: GlaDOS lamp
I think getting rid of a full 8W is going to be a big challenge. I already had trouble with 3W per led. The 40mm fans were quite noisy and 24W of LED light is quite much for most rooms. At 8W per led you will need proper airflow (active, not passive) and some good fans. Luckily for the wiring, glado...

Re: Hacking the HP45
All the PCB's have been soldered and are currently undergoing tests. The address side with level shifters has been tested and appears to work. The primitive side drivers, gate and nozzle tester still needs to be tested. After that I will solder in the pogo pins and put it in a carrier. IMG_20160917_...

Re: GlaDOS lamp
Hello Simon, The leds can't touch the plastic, there is no space, so your observation is right. Simply gluing them in place is good, although you can't use hot glue. Be aware that you also need additional heatsinks on the backs of the leds and good airflow to keep them cool enough, especially if you...

Re: Hacking the HP45
Finally I can move forward again. I now got my new PCB's. I still need a carrier and I need to solder the PCB's, but I can move forward again.

Re: why so few 3DP printer projects?
SLM and SLS are great techniques that are more versatile than 3DP. However, plastic SLS is already really difficult and almost an order of magnitude more dangerous, expensive and difficult than 3DP. Metal SLS and SLM is even more dangerous and expensive. For what the techniques can do, it is more th...

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead
I know I am still really really interested in the Xaar 128. Not for pure powder printing, but the Xaar is better than the HP45 in a lot of important ways.
Wonko, are you still here and are you willing to share it (if not here, at least somewhere).

Re: Hacking the HP45
Yes, I know, there are 22 address and between firing each nozzle, a 81 us delay is needed. Also you mentioned after each 81 us of delay, it shall be fired for three times of 2 us, but on my tests, only by one 2 us firing, the ink is squirted. Also a question: how much delay is needed between firing ...

Re: Solar System Orrery
Well, that went better than expected. I won something with the Orrery. It did even better than I had hoped. I would have been happy with a t-shirt. Up to the next project.

Re: Hacking the HP45
2 announcements, no new progress. 1: I have seen the future. THIS: http://hackaday.com/2016/08/17/introducing-the-teensy-3-5-and-3-6/ . I had preferred the Teensy over the Arduino DUE for the Oasis controller, but until now I had problems with the Teensy having too few I/O pins. No more it seems. I ...
