Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

Check with a scope that you correctly select nSS1 and nSS2 before sending corresponding SPI data. Also check SPI lines and CLK. Be aware also that if you have 3.3 CPU you will need a buffer since this head has 5V lines and won't read correctly high speed 3.3V signals (CLK, SCK and MOSI). I had a ver...

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

Does the head type -wetting or non wetting matter in ink selection? Why are there two types anyway?

Re: Info for Epson Precision core printhead

Hi, Here I found complete schematic of a Roland printer, including head control board: https://www.scribd.com/doc/142024676/Roland-Printer-Service-Manual-XJ-740 Unfortunately an account is needed but I got it. So this is the source of DX4 pinouts from my schematic. Here http://techref.massmind.org/t...

Re: Info for Epson Precision core printhead

I just meet a friend of mine that has a large format printer and he gave me an Epson DX4 head and promised mea bag full of partial clogged ones. It sems that anyone having a solvent printer can easily collect a ton of used heads that are just verygood for testing our projects The good thing is these...

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

I wonder if, whwn using a solvent ink, I can leave the printhead nozzleplate soaked into solvent when not used for several days or weks. If it's designed to work with solvent it shouldn't be an issue. This is to avoid purging too often and drying and clogging.when unused.

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

I wonder what's the minimum setup to drive a single head from the computer. No other sensors, valves or motors.

Re: HACKING an inkjet printer printhead

Hi,
This is a very interesting topic and thank you for sharing; I hope here we'll find a diy minimum usable configuration for a pro printhead control.
Aengel, can you post the images at a better resolution?

Hi BlueTurtle,
Can you give me more details about your ink?
Are you sure IPA won't damage the head?

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

Hi,

Indeed, working with high voltages and digital signals can be troublesome. For a prototype setup like ours, I would use relays.
What ink do you use? How do you store the printhead so it won't clog?

Re: Hacking the HP45

Yes, the matrix I got from this site and the patent is correct. It's a bit messy I have to switch bits and this takes processing time.
