Re: Hacking cartridge HP 84/85

The code that describes the CPU of the Teensy 4.0 is here: https://github.com/PaulStoffregen/cores/blob/master/teensy4/imxrt.h and the code to read and write digital ports is here: https://github.com/PaulStoffregen/cores/blob/master/teensy4/core_pins.h Reading this, you can set and clear many pins a...

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

I used a single supply with a single output, but decoupled them. One supply should be as stable as possible at 36V, but does not need much power at all. The other one needs more amps, but is allowed to fluctuate more. Separating is easy: split the 36V at the supply, run each supply through a diode f...

Re: Hacking cartridge HP 84/85

How reliable are the latest drafts on this really nice printhead? Are the voltages correct? I saw some of the timings, but what are the chance of them working? I hate to see MAsic12345 struggle on the software side after he did such nice research on the hardware side, but it is so difficult to help ...

Re: Hacking cartridge HP 84/85

The teensy 4.0 was released a few weeks ago. It is faster by a factor factor of 100 over the 3.2. Not sure if that is true for all operations, especially DMA, which seems to be the solution here.

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

Teensy have enough pins. If you need more, Arduino Due are an option (ARM CPU). Xaar heads use a serial protocol and can be daisy-chained. If you can be fast enough, you can control as many heads as you wish with the same control pins.

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

I have only tried solvent based ink, yes. Tritron V Photon black is a suggestion from the Xaar ink recommendation list specifically for the 128, but who knows if that list is correct. This is the only UV ink mentioned there. Water based ink fails for me completely. It took me forever to find that ou...

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

I think Tritron V Photon black ink is UV ink that is recommended by Xaar for the 128. Not sure though.
