Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

For some stubborn clogged heads I pushed 2.5 bars and nothing bad happened., they are still working. You just can't unclog a 50u nozzle with 0.1bar! I'm not saying that you MUST put that much pressure, maybe I was lucky, but still, I think 1...1.5bar is a reasonable pressure for this head. On the ot...

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

If ink accumulate on the bottom plate, check the vacuum. Ink level should be about few cm below the bottom plate.

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

Or you could place the ink reservoir so the ink level would be 1 inch lower than the nozzle plane. This is a good vacuum any xaar128 should work.

Re: Info for Epson Precision core printhead

It makes sense, but it would take much time to extract the data like the guy in my link. The DX heads are very strong and are made for a wide range of fluids. They are expensive indeed but you can find used heads and/or with clogged nozzles very cheap or for free. Eventually you can buy new ones aft...

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

Vpph and vppl can be switched by the same relay. After that relay, you may filter again the 35V for VPPL. On my chineese head flat cable adapter all grounds are tied together. So I have the same ground everywhere and my heads are working properly with isopropanol, which by the way is very well toler...

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

It looks like either you have a faulty SPI pin , it's shorted or you did not configured it as output from Arduino.

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

Phat is the device generating TTL signals? What voltage, I mean (5V or 3V3)?
Is the SPI data stable on the rising edge of SCK?

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

This is beyond the mesh filter. I suppose the white thing is oxidation from water. This was an used printhead that I used with water. It has cyan ink so I suppose the white stuff must be oxids.

Re: Hacking the Xaar 128 printhead

As I said, I got myself a lot of used printheads. I am really annoyed by the very strong smell of the "true" solvent they use so I tried to find an alternative ink, as mild or eco-solvent. So, do you think there's a different kind of ink that may be used for testing? I got prints, all is O...
