Depending on the LED.
A simple LED can run with just a resistor. Each LED has a maximum current, and it is easiest to add a resistor so the LED cannot draw more than this current.
If you have a higher power LED (I had a 1W LED in the eye at the time) you might want a LED driver, because it is way more efficient.
If you are still undecided, I'd go for the simple route with a resistor.

I think I’m gonna use a simple LED and resistor. What kind of board(/s) should I use, considering I want to use a ps3 controller to get her to do multiple things (talk and move)?

My best guess at this time is the ESP32 on a development board, but it really depends on what you already have experience with, and what is easy to get for you.

I’m brand new to this! I’ve wanted a mini GLaDOS for years. My friend got yours printed for me, but I thought it originally was a kit. Now I want to figure out what to do to get my ideal Murder Mother (GLaDOS lol)!

I bought myself a 3D printer for this, but I don't have any circuit boards or control electronics yet. Can you give me some basic tips (I'm not very good at this) and adjust my electronics shopping list:
1 x Arduino Uno / Nano / Mega
2 x Analog Joystick Modules
3 x Digital Servos (2-3 kg/cm)
1 x Digital Servo (6-8 kg/cm)
1 x 12V Power Supply
1 x DC-DC Step-Down Converter (5V) (instead of 7805)
8 x 1W LEDs (white)
1 x 1W LED (orange)
1 x LED Driver for 8 LEDs (1W)
9 x LED Heatsinks
2 x 40x40mm Fans
1 x Thermal Grease
3 x 608 Bearings
1 x 624 Bearings

On the surface this looks OK, but I cannot verify this is 100% correct. At this point in time, the project is so old, some part may no longer be available or the same. It is also quite hard for me to see if things are missing.

Well, I know I'm moving in the right direction. I'll order it and let you know if there are any issues once I've assembled it. I'm glad you're still answering my questions about the project, even after all this time, and I'll be happy to share the results once I've completed everything.

You can find most/all of those items on Amazon. I shopped through the list when I first picked this up. It’ll be expensive though. All those items add up quickly. Around an extra $200 or more.
