Epson 1390 Printer: Optical Curing Solution

Post by DarkBlaze »

Hey everyone, I'm a hobbyist from China. Since I'm not that skilled, I came up with a solution to bypass the Epson 1390 printer's detection signal so I can print on a powder bed. Now, I can normally print patterns in batches on the powder bed. But because I don't know much about powder formulas, I'm struggling to properly cure the powder patterns.

Currently, I'm using UV-curable resin technology for curing. The main issue is that the resin material doesn't cure quickly enough after being sprayed underneath, causing it to seep into the powder layer. I dug into some powder and estimated the penetration depth to be about 2mm. Because so much powder gets soaked up, the UV-curable resin becomes too dispersed when hit by UV light, making it impossible to cure and form properly. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this situation before.

These past few days, I've been looking for alternative solutions and heard that furan resin works well. I plan to use a spray head to print with a mixture of furan resin powder and furan resin curing powder. However, I don't know the formula for this system. I guess I'll need to do a lot of experimenting. If anyone has similar experience and can share some technical tips, that would be great! Next time, I'll post the results of my new material experiments.Image
