I am Yvo de Haas. I am 32 years old and I currently live in Enschede in the Netherlands. I have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from the Windesheim in Zwolle, with minors in polymer product engineering and mechatronics. I have a full time job as a mechanical engineer where I help design industrial robots and production lines.
In my free time I keep myself busy with all kind of technical projects. This includes robots, 3D modelling, 3D printers, but also props and RC aircraft. If it interests me, I build it. This includes the full scope of my existing skills, like hardware engineering and electronics, but if there is something I do not know yet, I try to learn about it. All electronics skills are self taught using books and the internet, and all programming skills kind of came with it. I usually program in Arduino, C++ (pure and QT) and python, but I am capable of coding in a few niche languages as well, such as JAL, Processing and ACS.
I do spend a lot of time on some of these projects, sometimes in the weeks in hours. I really enjoy it, but if I would keep it all for myself, only I would benefit from it. That is why I created Ytec3D.com, a site to share my projects to hopefully help or inspire other people. A lot of the skills I have acquired come from other projects on the internet where people have been so kind to share their knowledge. Sharing my projects here is my way of giving back knowledge and inspiration to the internet.
